POETRY RESPONSE 1

Some poets make stanzas to break off.
They want to be organized and have fun with it.
They want to emphasize there points and when they are ready to break or pause.

Understandable

Elle,
Is understandable
the way many things work
when you think
about it.

But things
become spaced out at times
if you don't
think .

You have,
to be understandable for people
to want to have the NEED
to understand you.

AND THATS UNDERSTANDABLE.

Elle's view on poetry 1

So far all my life I have loved poetry. I grew in to it more and much more when I discovered my ela teacher Ms.Johns. I have always loved to write poetry to express my feelings. in which no one would under stand. When it came to the point were I was really good at I started taking data of it and writing it in note books. Poetry can do and mean so many things. Especially when it comes to feelings. And that Elle's view on poetry.!!!

MY OPINION

The thing about blogging is that you share what you read, what you have read or what you 've heard someone read. You can infer many things . Tell hat the charector is feeling. I think that bogging is a way to communicate your ideas or many other thing and etc.

My teacher, when it comes to blogging she is really strict because she grades them as if they are book reports. I want to pass so I just do it even when she nags me in advisory. More over any one ca blog about any thing they want to.

I would say if you have an idea or any thing positive you are able to write so that other people like Mr. levy can view. "GO MR. LEVY".

Rosa sat so
Martin could walk,
Martin walked so Obama could run,
Obama ran so us children can fly.

I have a dream that an african american president will appear
he will share and care

And I, will not stand up and give up my seat or my rights to nobody

Praise song for the day

I think the title "Praise Song for the Day" means that change could be good or bad because it's almost like a flashback to me when we think of the slaves and all the black leaders who helped change our world we give thanks to them. For example, she quotes "Say it plain: that many have died for this day.
Sing the names of the dead who brought us here". I think she says this to make us visualize all the things they have done to keep the racism out of our world. Moreover to keep us all equal.

The book that i am reading now is called "Slam" and it is about a young teenager who goes to a different school and has some problem doing good at first. His teachers either want him to give eaither give up basket ball or art. He gives up art so he can keep on pplaying basket ball and study .

Test prep action plan

The things I would do to be able to get a three on the ELA test is work on test prep in after school. I would do test prep in Saturday school. I would stay in advisory and do acuity. The hardest types of questions are main idea because i worry about the extended questions a lot. I could look back on the passage every time I feel that it is hard to answer. I also think that the unfamiliar words are hard also they seem to be harder than the main idea questions. To make it easier I could use context clues tto make it easier for me to use unfamimlair words.

My accomplishments in these units were outstanding. Then, we did a political unit on the debate between Barack What I learned so far is that we start to activate our schema. I learned how to log in on my computer. It is i so easy to do things on the computer. First we did the reading strategies in ttheObama and John McCain. We worked on Nelson Mandela and how we had to compare him to a change maker. We created Blogs to help us with the readers response journals we do. We worked on a famous painter named Frida Khalo. We also did anther famous painter name Leonardo Di Vinci. We started a ning project. We are reading a book high level book . One thing about the technology in this school is so convenient and very easy to handle. So far my favorite unit was the political unit because it was so high level and we wanted to let the teachers in the building know that we did understand politics and we did care about who won and how it would affect us.

I think the author wrote this book in poems and stories because it gets into the children's mind as high schoolers. It shows how they feel and when they read on open mike Fridays they really express there feelings. I think the title "Bronx Masquerade" fits the book because the word means to disguise and when you write poetry it makes perfect sense. My favorite poem so far in my book was the one by a student named Steven Ericson he called it "DOUBTLESS" Ericson really dug deep about how he felt as a young boy. He used rhyme, rhythm and repetition. He states at the end of the poem "REMEMBER:PACK YOUR DREAMS. THERE PORTABLE". That was a metophor and he was trying to get it in the readers mind that you have to keep your dreams no matter were you go.

Listening Passage Mona Lisa

One of the possible people who could be Mona Lisa is Leonardo Da Vinci because Lilian Sworts discovered that the painting looks like him as a woman. She says it actually looks like him as a female but can also be his mother. I think it could be a self portrait. But the only hing is that he looks like a woman.

Character unit intro

Do people ever really change?
People have the power to change whenever they want emotionally,mentally and physically. For example Dave in the "A child called it" changed he was a child beaten by his mother for no apparent reason and now in life he helped with the army. For another example, a mother of one of my friends was on drugs and she changed by getting help and joined a rehab center for drug addicts. " Do people ever really change? I say it depends on the situation.

Drama club blog 1

I would like to talk about being in this club and how it will affect my extra curricular activities.
There is really nothing that I can suggest but we can work together and we will become a family. we can learn together, we will grow together and we will walk together to get what we want out of drama.

Election Reflection

The thing that made this election historic is that Barack Obama is an African American who ran for president.He is the first African American to win in the United States. I feel that Obama will keep his word when he says " the road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even in one term , but America, i have never been more hopeful then i am tonight that we will get there. I promise you we as a people will get there." I believe him when he sayed that. He sound true.
